Z-Wave Rollershutter Delay Issue and Potential Solutions

Hello fellow smart home enthusiasts! I wanted to share my experience with a Z-Wave rollershutter delay issue I’ve been dealing with. I hope this might help someone else or spark some ideas for solutions!

I recently upgraded my home automation setup and installed several Fibaro rollershutters. While they work perfectly in terms of functionality, I noticed a slight delay when controlling them through groups. For instance, when I send a ‘UP’ command to a group of three rollershutters, one reacts immediately, while the other two take a few seconds to start moving. This delay is inconsistent and varies between different groups, which is a bit frustrating.

After some research, I found that this issue might be related to how Z-Wave handles transactions and retries. I started monitoring the logs and noticed that some transactions were timing out or being aborted. It seems like the delay is caused by the Z-Wave network trying to resend commands or handle retries for devices that didn’t respond promptly.

To address this, I tried a few things:

  • Adjusting Transaction Retries: I increased the number of retries for Z-Wave transactions in my system settings. This didn’t completely eliminate the delay but reduced its frequency.
  • Network Optimization: I performed a network heal and ensured all devices are within optimal range of the controller. This helped improve overall network stability.
  • Firmware Updates: I checked for any pending firmware updates for my rollershutters and controller. Keeping everything up-to-date is crucial for smooth operation!

I’m still experimenting with different configurations, but I wanted to share my journey in case others have encountered similar issues. If anyone has additional insights or solutions, I’d love to hear them! :handshake:

Happy automating! :rocket:
