Z-Wave Sensor Wake-Up Issues and Solutions

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with Z-Wave sensors and the wake-up issues I’ve encountered. I’ve been using Z-Wave for a while now, primarily for my door and window sensors. I set up a system where I log sensor updates in InfluxDB and configured my Z-Wave dongles to periodically wake up the sensors. I tested this setup on three different dongles, but none of them seemed to work consistently. It was frustrating because I couldn’t get reliable warnings if a sensor went offline. I even tried using the ‘expire’ binding, but it didn’t solve the problem.

I also noticed that while Zigbee worked flawlessly with zigbee2mqtt, Z-Wave had its own set of challenges. I checked my alarm settings and configurations, but nothing seemed to work as expected, especially on OpenHAB 2.5 and 3.0. I couldn’t figure out why the wake-up feature wasn’t functioning as it should.

After some research and reaching out to the community, I found that others had similar issues. It turns out that the wake-up functionality in Z-Wave can be finicky and might require specific configurations or firmware updates. While I haven’t fully resolved the issue yet, I’m relieved to know I’m not alone in this struggle.

I’m curious to hear if anyone else has faced similar problems or has found a reliable workaround. Any tips or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

On a positive note, I’m inspired by how the community shares knowledge and supports each other. It’s amazing to see everyone collaborate to overcome these technical hurdles. Let’s keep the discussions going and help each other out! :muscle::sparkles:
