Zero code, zero trouble: My journey automating life with Aqara + IFTTT

Hey folks, just wanted to share a little success story from a non-coder like me. I recently started tinkering with Aqara gear and stumbled upon IFTTT. Let’s just say—it changed the game for me.

I’m using the M2 hub, few door/window sensors, and the motion sensor. Initially, I was only triggering basic HomeKit automations, but I wanted more control without diving into coding.

Then I connected Aqara to IFTTT and boom… now when I leave home (sensed by the door sensor), my lights and Xiaomi air purifier shut off automatically. When I come back and the motion sensor picks me up, it kicks on some soft lighting and even plays my Spotify chill playlist. IFTTT did all the heavy lifting.

No coding, no YAML files, no messing with platforms like Home Assistant. Just a few clicks and logic like “IF motion is detected, THEN do X”.

If you’re a beginner or just wanna keep things simple, IFTTT + Aqara is such a smooth combo. Anyone else playing around with this setup? Would love to hear your use cases or creative ideas!
