Zigbee Network Troubleshooting and Success Story

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with my Zigbee network, which I believe might be helpful for others facing similar issues. A few weeks ago, my Zigbee network started acting up, and it was quite a puzzle to figure out what was going wrong.

Initially, I noticed that some of my smart devices, like the motion sensors and presence detectors, were randomly disconnecting from my Zigbee2MQTT setup. It was frustrating because I hadn’t made any changes to the network configuration. I decided to investigate and found a series of errors in my logs related to LQI (Link Quality Indicator) failures.

I tried a few troubleshooting steps. First, I reset my Zigbee dongle and reconfigured the network, but the issue persisted. Then, I remembered reading about channel interference being a common problem. I switched my Wi-Fi network to channel 11, which is less crowded, and that seemed to help a bit. However, the errors weren’t entirely gone.

After some research, I came across a suggestion to update the firmware on my Zigbee devices. I started with the ones that were showing the most errors. To my surprise, updating them not only fixed their connectivity issues but also improved the overall network stability. It turns out that outdated firmware can cause significant problems, including dropped connections and failed updates.

I also learned the importance of regular backups. After the initial issue, I made sure to back up my Zigbee2MQTT configuration so that if something goes wrong again, I can quickly restore it without losing any progress.

Now, my network is running smoothly again, and I’ve even added a few more devices. This experience taught me the value of staying updated with firmware and being proactive with network maintenance. If anyone else is struggling with Zigbee issues, I highly recommend checking firmware versions and testing different Wi-Fi channels. It might just be the solution you’re looking for! :star2:
