I have a Lighstrip T1 installed in my greenhouse in the backyard and it consistently drops zigbee connection strength every night. Yesterday I got an Aqara Smart Plug to place midway between the hub (a camera G3) and the lightstrip hoping for it to extend the zigbee range and it also showed a dramatic drop at night.
How is this possible? The graph below shows a clear pattern, so I’m a bit puzzled about this.
Hello, you need to reconnect the strip. First connect the outlet. Then delete the LED strip in the application and reconnect it to the gateway. Only then will you see the result.
Hey thanks for your tip. I have two questions though:
- is that order of connection really important? I would have thought that the mesh would be dynamically populated.
- How does that affect the fact that I have a consistent drop every night?
Thanks!
No, Aqara does not use a dynamic Zigbee mesh. Zigbee communication is kept constant in the configured mesh, this is done for stable operation so that the network does not “walk”. The procedure I gave is mandatory to rebind to new communication lines using a repeater.
Great to know, thanks!
I removed both devices and reconnected them in the distance order from the hub. I assume that I don’t have to factory reset them, right?
My original question about the consistent drops during the night hours still stands though, if you have any idea about what could cause that pattern.
Thanks again!
Procedure 1- install the socket (add to the gateway) 2- add the sensor. Theoretically, it should rebind through the socket.
FP2 is not a repeater , Fp2 is a wifi device.
