Hi everyone, I bought a G3 hub camera. I inserted a micro SD card to enable continuous recording. Well now I also want to record on NAS, that is to have copies of the videos on the SD card. I configured the connection to my Synology NAS from the Aqara App. Everything is ok until I check that on the NAS there are empty Aqara folders, with no files inside them. Why? Does anyone have the same problem? Thanks.
@gtxteo Hi there! It sounds like you’ve set up your G3 hub camera and are eager to use the NAS feature alongside your SD card recordings. From what you’ve described, it seems like the connection to your Synology NAS is established, but the files aren’t being transferred as expected.
While the reference information doesn’t specifically address NAS issues with the G3 camera, here are a few suggestions that might help:
-
Check NAS Permissions: Ensure that the Aqara app has the necessary permissions to write files to your NAS. This might involve setting write permissions for the Aqara app user or folder.
-
Network Stability: Make sure your network connection is stable, as any interruptions could affect file transfers between the camera and NAS.
-
Firmware Update: Ensure your G3 camera’s firmware is up to date, as updates sometimes fix issues related to NAS compatibility.
-
Aqara Support: Since specific NAS-related issues aren’t covered in the reference information, consider reaching out to Aqara support for more detailed troubleshooting.
If anyone else in the community has encountered and solved this issue, please feel free to share your insights. Your experience could be invaluable to others facing the same challenge!
Thanks for the reply. I have already tried everything but everything is updated and connected correctly. The only thing I could try would be to format the SD card from PC in exfat32. For the connections and permissions of the NAS I have done everything correctly.
@gtxteo Thank you for your update and efforts in trying to resolve the issue. It seems like you’ve covered a lot of ground already. Given that everything else is updated and connected correctly, formatting the SD card to exFAT or FAT32 from your PC could indeed be a useful step, as the Aqara G3 camera supports these formats. This might help ensure that the camera and NAS can handle file formats consistently.
Since the reference information doesn’t specifically cover NAS-related issues for your camera model, community input can be incredibly valuable here. If any fellow users have encountered a similar situation, their insights could really help. Please keep us updated on your progress, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you discover anything new that might assist others facing the same challenge.
I too having the same problem. I have a NAS connected before on my G3 but now it does not save the files on the Aqara folder. It’s a firmware update issue on your end.
Ditto. My Aqara Camera Hub G3 is recording to the SD card, but not to my Synology NAS.
Thanks @carlosedward_tambis @gregg for your reply. Finally someone who has the same problem. I hope they fix the firmware so I can use the NAS feature properly.
Hello
I ve the same issue. My Cameras E1 work like a charm but the G3 started saving files on the NAS (Synology) and stopped after few hours. Impossible to make it work again. nothing to debug the situation.
I factory reseted the G3. Setup again everything and for the moment it works.
Let see after few days.
What kind of authorization have you setting on your Synology NAS?
after rebooting the G3, records stops. I had to factory reset again the G3 to make it work again.
I use standard samba authentification user/password.
The E1 cameras are working like a charm. It’s only on the G3 where i have the issue
Can you share with me step by step your samba connection process? Thanks I will try it.
I have smb active in my DSM setting. But it doesn’t work.
Same problem with G4 and G5.
I was having the same problem. I was using an old Western Digital My Book and the SMB V2 protocol. Perplexity AI told me that the latest Aqara camera firmware update changes the SMB protocol to V3. I resolved the issue by replacing my NAS with a new model that supports SMB V3. I’m using an intel NUC with OpenMediaVault as a NAS.
