Aqara G5 Pro Feature Requests

I don’t see the need for the G5 Pro to include Matter controller / Thread border router. Install 4 cameras and you have 4 Matter controllers. Better to use a separate hub like the M3.

Instead, the G5 Pro really needs a built in battery, preferably exchangeable. No battery, no solar panel. Plenty of users would prefer not to rely on a wired power source.

The POE functionality is nice, but that version is missing Wi-Fi. If the POE version would include Wi-Fi, I would buy that one even if I don’t need POE (for now).

  1. When multiple Aqara Matter Controller devices exist in the same home, only one controller ultimately plays the role of the final executing device. Users can modify this only executing device in Aqara Home.
  2. The battery G5 Pro is currently under development.
  3. The coexistence of PoE and WiFi design may lead to increased product costs, but I believe coexistence can also exist as an additional form, and we will conduct more research.

I was hoping that removing the Matter controller would reduce production cost.

I would happily pay for the flexibility of having both POE and Wi-Fi.

Hi there,

any chance of a 90° video stream (today 0 or 180)?

It would be nice if I can costumize timelapse. Capture frequency, duratin, video resolution, etc. Any option will be welcome.

I would like to suggest support for ONVIF Profile S.

Could you please consider adding line crossing detection?

I can guess the reason for your request. We are currently adjusting the bracket design of G5 Pro to allow for free rotation at the connection between the bracket and the camera. This way, when G5 Pro is installed on the wall in a non inverted manner, its observation position can be flexibly adjusted. This design will be applied together with the release of the battery version G5 Pro. Thank you for your feedback.

Yes, we are designing a new time-lapse feature, which may differ from the current feature in the following ways:

  1. The new time-lapse feature supports configuring longer recording times (with a time span that may exceed one year)
  2. The image frames extracted at regular intervals are saved in the cloud, rather than being stored only in device memory like the current feature
  3. Users can configure the frequency of timed extraction of image frames, and the video resolution will be set to the maximum resolution of the camera
  4. It is highly likely to be a paid feature

that’s what we are doing now

Will this new bracket design be available to purchase for owners of the camera already? I would benefit from this sort of bracket

We will consider opening it up for consumers to purchase as a standalone product

In order to install the camera at the correct angle on the exterior wall of my house, I had to slightly modify the plastic bracket. Specifically, I had to trim just beyond the edge of the top of the bracket to allow for the necessary tilt/rotation. Without making this adjustment, it was impossible to position the camera properly to cover the desired area. Once modified, the installation was straightforward and the camera now works as expected

Given the planned improvement to the bracket, will you make it available to early adopters of the G5 Pro too?

This is really important and strongly suggest they you should open it up.
If you read a lot of forums including X , Reddit and even on YouTube, a lot of consumers are talking about the issue with the bracket

Any idea on the timeline for the battery G5 Pro. Really want to replace my current system with a new model but getting power to it isn’t feasible only power using solar panel. From what I have read the solar panel doesn’t work reliably with the non-battery powered camera.

I would also benefit from this sort of bracket
