Aqara M3 hub worth the upgrade?

Hi,
Is the Aqara M3 hub worth the upgrade from the M2?
Thanks in advance

Depends on your upgrade path. I didn’t think it’s worth it from m2 to m3

Good day
If you plan to use matter devices and matter over thread devices, then m3 is a good choice, at the moment it is the top hub in the line of hubs from Aqara.

Hello.
If I understand you correctly, you want to upgrade and buy the M3 gateway. If so, then I recommend it to you. The M3 gateway opens up a wide range of possibilities for other devices (not manufactured by Aqara) using Matter communication. Also, your current M2 gateway becomes useful further and expands your capabilities. The M3 gateway becomes a coordination center for the M2 gateway in your system and almost all automation becomes local.
I want to show the principle of connections in the system, for your correct understanding, many users have a problem with this.
Zigbee (battery) ->Zigbee (repeater, 220 v with zero)->М2->WiFi<-М3<-Zigbee (repeater, 220 v with zero)<-Zigbee (battery).

And the M3 hub has infrared to control old devices?

@manuel_m_carbajo Yes. Aqara Hub M3 is IR completely compatible.

Yes, m3 supports IR, you can add a remote control from the list or set up a custom one if your brand and device are not on the list.
If you set up the air conditioning mode in the m3 hub settings, you will also have feedback from it and you will be able to pass the air conditioner to Homekit.

Yes ! M3 is really nice ! But if you only use as a Aqara hub than I don’t think it would be worth it ! It will jut do the same thing

So if I install an M3 in my home that already has an M2, I should keep them both in place?

It will expand the range and stability of connection if they are apart
