Just bought a G5 Pro POE and am getting used to the features. I’ve played around with the arming and disarming of the guard feature and it makes an annoying chirp, like a car, when this happens. Is there any way to disable this? I don’t think it’s linked to the volume of the device as I can set it to 0% and it still sounds.
@DougD It sounds like you’re getting familiar with your new G5 Pro PoE and its features! The arming and disarming chirp can indeed be a bit startling. Unfortunately, the reference information doesn’t specifically mention how to disable this particular sound. The sound might be a default alert tied to the arming and disarming functionality, which may not be directly adjustable through standard volume settings.
I recommend checking the Aqara Home app for any sound settings associated with the guard feature or consulting the user manual for any additional details on managing sounds. Additionally, I encourage you to share this experience with the community or reach out to Aqara support for further guidance. They might have insights or future updates that could help in managing this feature better. Happy exploring with your new camera!
Unfortunately, the sound can only be reduced to 50% when an alarm is triggered, a remark was made when testing this function to Aqara specialists to change this value to 20%. I hope they will listen to us.
I have laid out all the settings in pictures for understanding. Maybe it will be useful to someone else with such a question.
thanks, we will submit this requirement to the app team, and will try to implement it ASAP
That would be a brilliant addition. Whilst the chirp is reassuring, the sound can carry in a quieter neighbourhood. Sometimes as well I just might want to arm or disarm stealthily
During testing, I even created a Jira note about this problem, unfortunately, Aqara specialists did not respond to it.
I think what you’ve notices is different from that DougD was mentioning. He referred to the arm/disarm sound, not the alert volume. But thank you for your report, we’ll try to address it.
In the Netherlands it is forbidden to have an alarm system with an outdoor siren. Indoors it is allowed
In the end I’ve decided that the guard alert is just too noisy for me. The chirps during arming and disarming and if an event is detected generates far too much noise. I prefer a stealthier system and can get the functionality I exactly need through scenes and automation. I prefer this as well as the devices then reflect their actual status rather than the separate guard alerts and device alerts.
