Before an Apple Home update, how do you preserve Aqara room and automation mappings?

A forum report says that after an iOS 27.2 update, more than 20 Aqara accessories bridged by an M3 appeared in the M3’s room in Apple Home and associated automations disappeared. I have not reproduced this; it made me wonder what a practical backup and recovery plan looks like.

Before updating, what record do you keep of each accessory’s name, room, bridge, and the Apple Home scenes or automations that use it? Is there a supported way to export that mapping, or is a manual inventory the realistic option?

If room assignments change, how do you check whether an automation was deleted, disabled, or still points at a changed accessory before re-pairing anything? I would be interested in a recovery checklist from anyone who has dealt with this.

I use Controller for HomeKits backup feature. These issues are rare, but I’ve had the need to do backups and restores for various reasons over the years and this app is my go-to solution. It’s in the app store.
