I want to connect the E1 hub but in step 2 of the process the Aqara app can’t see the home I’ve added. What to do?
@ryanvoerman I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble connecting your Aqara Hub E1. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:
- Ensure your phone is close to the hub and that the hub is blinking yellow, indicating it’s ready for pairing.
- Connect the hub to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. If your router supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, make sure the 5GHz band is switched off.
- Check that your Wi-Fi name does not contain special characters, as this can interfere with the pairing process.
- If you’re using a business router, disable the “forbid sending mDNS to wireless clients” setting.
- Try using a different Wi-Fi network or create a Wi-Fi hotspot with your phone to see if the issue is with the original Wi-Fi signal.
- Long-press the reset button on the hub until the yellow light blinks and follow the app’s instructions to retry the pairing process.
- If the pairing still fails after multiple attempts, restart your phone to clear the memory cache and try again.

How do I connect the hub to my WiFi?
@ryanvoerman To connect your Aqara Hub E1 to your Wi-Fi, follow these steps:
-
Preparation: Ensure your mobile phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. If your router supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, make sure the 5GHz band is switched off.
-
Start the Hub: Plug the hub into a power source. The indicator light should blink yellow, indicating the hub is ready to pair.
-
Use the Aqara Home App:
- Open the Aqara Home app on your phone.
- Click the “+” in the upper right corner and select “Hub E1” from the list.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the hub to your Wi-Fi network. If you are using an iOS device, you might need to scan or enter the HomeKit code on the Apple Home app during this process.
-
Troubleshooting:
- Keep your phone close to the hub during this process.
- Make sure there are no special characters in your Wi-Fi name.
- If you’re using a business router, disable the “forbid sending mDNS to wireless clients” setting.
- If the hub doesn’t connect, try using a different Wi-Fi network or create a Wi-Fi hotspot with your phone.

Hey, I face the same issue. Cannot connect the E1 Hub.
I followed all the steps and rules: only using 2,4 GHz wifi (5GHz is off), I simplified the name and password, reset Hub by pressing 10+2 times, waiting for yellow LED, I tried both CN and EU regions, data share with Aqara and Apple Home is enabled, restarted my iPhone as well, no VPN on, i keep it close to t
I’m stuck at this step:
" 3.
If you are using an iOS device, you might need to scan or enter the HomeKit code on the Apple Home app during this process." - here is where Apple shows “unable to add accessory, Authentication failed”. - check screenshots.
I dont really understand why i even have to go through Adding to-Apple Home step. I dont need it there. Just wanna add it to My Aqara Home app. WHY YOU CAN’T SKIP THIS STEP.
EDIT: what helped at the end, was unplugging the E1 Hub, as well.
@arekb Hey there! It sounds like you’ve really been through the wringer trying to get that E1 Hub connected.
Regarding the issue of not being able to add the accessory with an “Authentication failed” message on the Apple Home app during the process, it could be due to multiple adding failures causing the error information of iOS cache not being removed. You can try restarting the iOS device and reset the hub again. After that, you can manually enter the HomeKit setup code and add it again .
As for why you can’t skip the Apple Home step when using an iOS device, the Hub E1 is designed to integrate with HomeKit for those who want to use it in the Apple ecosystem. Even if you don’t plan to use it in the Apple Home app in the end, this step is part of the setup process for iOS devices to complete the overall connection and configuration of the hub.
I’m glad to hear that unplugging the E1 Hub helped in the end. If you run into any more issues or have other questions, don’t hesitate to let us know.
