Constant connection drops using AppleTV as hub and Verizon 5Ghome internet

First of all, thank you for all of your feedback and information, it has been very helpful!

One of the things I learned from Verizon is that the processor chip they use in their gateway is very slow, and it is trying to run the 5G cellular gateway and the Wi-Fi router at the same time.

I also learned that I could put it in IP bypass mode and use an external Wi-Fi router to take the load off of that weak processor in the Verizon gateway.

I did that and reset everything, even though it had the same Wi-Fi name and password, I still had to manually reinstall everything as if I just opened the boxes! But that’s just the way it is. Likely because new IP addresses were issued on the new router and the DNS server was new as well.

Once I did that, I slowly added cameras. Noted that everything was much more stable.

One of the things I noticed is a difference between the way Apple HomeKit handles disturbances as opposed to the IP cams RTSP application. RTSP just simply freezes the camera forever when it runs into an issue unless you restart the application. Apple HomeKit notices that the stream has been frozen or interrupted and will reset the stream for the individual camera experiencing the trouble and the flow then continues. But due to that, I can see how often cameras are experiencing running into a brick wall as I watch the tiles take turns disappearing on my HomeKit video screen.

Aside from the five Aqara cameras, I have one from TAPO, which oddly enough has a 2K resolution but only uses a 2.4 gig Wi-Fi rather than kicking it up to the 5GIg.

I removed that camera from the mix and suddenly the other five Aqara cameras I have seem to run with a stable connection, at least for the length of time I was able to monitor it late last night by the time I got to the solution.

The odd thing is the doorbell 410 hub is using the 5g channel, where the other four camera are using the 2.4. And it too froze while it was the only one on that channel.

Troubleshooting conclusions are constantly changing, giving the indication that there is more than one problem since I can’t isolate it to any one single problem by elimination and other methods.

This has been very frustrating, but I will continue to chop away at it until I can determine where the bottleneck is.
