Decoupled Mode Issue: H2 EU Switch Cuts Power in MARS Setup + Missing Multi-Press Logic

Dear Aqara Support Team,

I would like to report a clear functional issue with the Aqara H2 EU (2 Buttons, 1 Channel) when used together with Aqara Ceiling Light (T1M) and MARS technology.

The actual problem

Even when Decoupled Mode (Detached Mode) is enabled, my H2 EU switch still cuts the power (L output) whenever I perform a double press on the upper button.

This should be impossible.

In decoupled mode:
• the relay must stay constantly ON
• the switch must behave like a wireless button only
• smart lamps (like the T1M) must never lose power

Instead, the H2 behaves inconsistently and sometimes acts as a real physical switch even though decoupled mode is active.
This causes the T1M Ceiling Light to lose power completely, which obviously defeats the whole purpose of MARS and smart-lamp setups.

Why this is a bigger issue

This problem is identical to what another user (Dragos) reported on Reddit: Wired switches in decoupled mode do not support proper multi-press handling (single, double, long press), and the firmware seems to partially ignore decoupled mode in certain situations.

For anyone using Aqara smart lights, this is a critical limitation.

The wireless H1 switch supports:
• single press
• double press
• long press

…but the wired H-series does not, even in decoupled mode where it technically should behave exactly like a wireless button.

What is needed
1. A fix so that decoupled mode on H2 EU truly disables the physical relay completely, for all press types.
2. Full multi-press logic on wired switches in decoupled mode (just like your wireless switches).
3. Clear documentation on how MARS + decoupled mode should work with Aqara smart lights.

Right now, the behavior is inconsistent and not aligned with how the Aqara ecosystem is designed.

My setup
• Aqara H2 EU (2 Buttons, 1 Channel)
• Aqara Ceiling Light T1M
• MARS Technology enabled
• Decoupled Mode enabled on the upper button
• Hub: Aqara Hub M3 (firmware up to date)

The issue is repeatable every time.
I can provide video proof if needed.

Thank you for reviewing this.
Please let me know if you need logs, device IDs or additional details.

Kind regards,

MARS Technology is a smart home solution introduced by Aqara, with the full name Multi-load-type Adaptable and Reliable Switching Technology (abbreviated as MARS-Tech™). It resolves compatibility issues where smart lights go offline after being connected to smart switches, ensuring the stability of the smart home system. Currently, this technology is supported across Aqara’s smart switches, smart panels, and whole-house lighting control series.

Key advantages of MARS Technology include:

  1. Multi-device State Synchronization: Automatically syncs the switch status of smart lights with smart switches, ensuring consistent and coordinated operation.

  2. Compatibility with Various Smart Lights: Supports most smart lights on the market through three modes: Normal Load Mode, Smart Load Mode, and Pulse Control Mode.

  3. Enhanced System Stability: Keeps switches constantly powered, ensuring smart lights remain online and controllable for switching, brightness adjustment, color temperature, or RGB effects.

  4. Double-Click Forced Power Off: Allows users to forcibly cut off power to smart lights by double-clicking the switch—useful for debugging or safely turning off malfunctioning lights.

If MARS Technology is enabled, double-clicking will prioritize turning off the relay.

The problem then will be if the answer time for the lamp are a due seconds late, wi automatic press again. Then it’s a dubble :face_with_peeking_eye: it’s a big issue here in my family of 5. Children age, 1 , 12, 15. Wife 36…

Hello, I would recommend that you switch to wireless mode and use it until the double-click (Off) problem is fixed. To avoid accidental physical shutdown, I recommend using the automation from lesson 7, figure 3, 4. This automation ensures constant operation of the T1M lamp.

Thank you!
I have to learn the wife to!🫩:face_with_peeking_eye::innocent::flushed:

Hello, wife is sacred :grinning::innocent:

I can also advise you, in the Aqara Home settings, turn on the “prohibition of device removal” function, there is such a function. You will receive a notification “my wife wants to remove the switch from the smart home”

i have similar issue, i have single Gange H2 Swtich on Decouple Mode, the lights bulb used is nano leaf bulb connected via thread.
When the decouple mode is on the switch works fine as a normal swithc but its stop responding after for couple of hours and doesn’t work but the i still can control the matter bulbs that means it hasn’t cut off the power to bulb. it very strange bug
