I purchased a FP400 from Amazon yesterday. During the initial onboarding process the Aqara app discovered it immediately. I selected to switch it from Thread to Zigbee. That process ran it’s course but the end result failed. Since that point, it’s been completely undiscoverable. I have 40+ Aqara Thread, Zigbee and Wi-Fi devices including an FP2, FP1E, and M3 Hub. I’ve never had any issues like this of any kind before. I had the FP400 inches away from my M3 hub and it’s still not discoverable in any of the onboarding methods for either Thread or Zigbee. I know what I’m doing and the problem is not on my end. I’ve already gone far past every conceivable troubleshooting method that Aqara recommends. It must be the device because I successfully reconnected my FP2, FP1E to Aqara to verify Wi-Fi and Zigbee are discoverable for onboarding. I then reconnected my M100 Hub to Aqara and across multiple ecosystems via Matter bridge to verify Thread Boarder Router and Matter. I feel like something happened to the FP400 as a result of the initial attempt to switch it’s stock Thread firmware over to Zigbee firmware. It’s the only thing that makes any sense because it was discoverable before it failed to complete the firmware switch and then became completely undiscoverable afterwards. @AqaraBot, @AqaraOfficial, can you please suggest a resolution for this issue I’m experiencing. Please don’t suggest the standard troubleshooting suggestions because I am not the type to reach out for assistance without already having tried literally everything Aqara recommends and much more on my end as well. I think that in this case, a replacement device is warranted as I’ve already spent more than a day messing with my entire set up just to try and find a solution.
@Quasi-Pseudonym You seem to be experiencing an issue with the FP400 motion sensor becoming undiscoverable after a failed protocol switch from Thread to Zigbee. You can contact customer support for assistance.
Contact the Aqara Home App Customer Service Team (Profile> Help & Feedback > Customer Service) or scan the QR code:
This will be more efficient. If you do not have an Aqara Home account, “Please click here” to create a ticket.

Hello.just for reference did you unplug your M3 from the power?also did you try an factory reset of the FP400?pressing 10 times in a row and wait till Aqara app discover it more check the power source.
Oh yes. There’s nothing I didn’t try. I also have a M100 Hub that I tried pairing it with using the Matter onboarding protocol. Nothing. It flashes after holding the the pair reset. Press it ten times doesn’t seem to have any effect on it. Matter over Thread and both Bluetooth/Aqara’s (proprietary) Magic Pairing Zigbee onboarding pairing methods return with error message that device cannot be found. It was visible in the Aqara app immediately after first plugging it in. Then after the failed Thread to Zigbee firmware switch. It seems to me like it’s no longer able to go into discovery mode. I’m certain it’s the device. I’m just going to have to return it. Pretty disappointed considering the near flawless history I’ve had with wide variety of Aqara devices. If I get another one, I’ll set it up with it’s stock Thread firmware at first. Update it’s firmware if available. Then attempt the Thread to Zigbee firmware switch. It’s weird because I have 8 Aqara lightbulbs that I’ve successfully switched their stock Thread firmware over to Zigbee without any problems. I haven’t found any additional information online regarding others experiencing this onboarding issue. So I’m assuming that my case is an isolated problem. Thanks for the reply and suggestions anyway though. Always appreciated!
Great attitude, @Quasi-Pseudonym .
My install went great with Thread until the setup process. But like you, I have loved all of my other Aqara devices (and I have many).
Interestingly, mine works great over Zigbee.
Well it could be since this devices is a new devices issues my occur. then if there is no way to pair it send it back or tell them to replace it.
Hello, it sounds like your problem can be solved.
Can you confirm, after switching the firmware, if you press and hold for 5s, will a purple breathing light appear(zigbee mode comfirmed)?
In addition, FP400 needs Hub version 4.5.70 or above. Could you please check it. Are you using M100 or other hub?
One more reminder, if it is in zigbee mode, you can directly select the equipment that appears in distribution mode without scanning code. If it is in Matter mode, please make sure that the QR code of Matter is scanned instead of Magicpair Code.
It seems that you are a very experienced user, but I still want to mention this, because sometimes it is really easy to make such mistakes.
Sorry for the bad experience. We are looking into this type of issue. Could you please provide more information?
- After long-pressing for 5s or pressing it 10 times, after the blue light flashes, does the device show a breathing light? If so, is it blue or purple?
- By “cannot discover the device,” do you mean that the FP400 icon does not appear in the app during onboarding? Or that the gateway cannot find the device when entering the onboarding process?
I have the same issue. bought 3 FP400, wanting to run them in zigbee with Camera Hub G350 and 2 work fine and one doesn’t get discovered and doesn’t show “breathing” light. only brief blue flashes when the button is pressed for 5 seconds or power is plugged in. 10 rapid presses yield no reaction at all. Have tried with cables/power supply that the other two work fine with.
