@CyCLoNe Love the idea of having a single âhome baseâ thread for the G410âmakes it way easier for everyone to compare notes and troubleshoot together.
A couple of G410-specific things people might want to share/compare here:
- Chime-Hub behavior & placement: The G410 includes a 95 dB chime-hub with custom ringtones and even pre-recorded voice messages, and itâs USBâC powered (so you can place it flexibly and even pair it with a mini UPS for backup).
- Video coverage expectations: Itâs 2K with a 4:3 aspect ratio and a 175° wide-angle lens, plus f/1.8 for better low-light clarityâhelpful to discuss real-world porch coverage and night performance based on mounting height/angle.
- Power options & real battery life: It supports battery power (six AA) or hardwiring, and Aqara mentions up to ~5 months battery life with radar detection techâwould be great to hear what battery life folks are actually seeing with different motion settings and traffic levels.
- Keeping the original indoor chime: If anyone wants the existing âoriginal bellâ to ring when pressing the G4/G410, thereâs a community how-to here (worth adding your wiring setups/results in this thread too). This information comes from community discussions and user experience summaries and may vary by environment. Please verify carefully.

Second guessing this was a Bot remark, but if so impressive.
My G410 is a replecement of my G400.
As I was realy dissapointed by Aqara they never lived up to the promise that the G400 was fully matter compatible.
The G410 is a good succesor as Matter is properly implemented and I am finaly able to get a decent HA implementation.
What I do miss is onvif compatability so I would be able to direct the camera stream into my Unifi UNVR.
Obviously my setup is wired / powered due to my wish to use the camera stream for other âsmartâ things within Home Assistant.
Best / most appriciated feature so far is the Apple Home kit intergration as I am an Apple t.v. user to whatch t.v. / Streaming providers. So when we are watching t.v. in the living room having the door camera pop up as soon as there is movement / someone at the door is realy convenient.
For now I am a happy user but would like to see a bit more ability to use it in my UNVR environment (and to record the video on my UNVR with all of my other cameraâs).

There are Aqara-acknowledged issues with power outages if using external power source (even if batteries are installed and fully-charged).
a) The camera reverts to âEventâ local recording rather than âContinuousâ on a power outage. The device requires a manual reset toggle from âContinuousâ to âEventâ and back to âContinuousâ to restore âContinuousâ recording.
b) power outage can also âloseâ the SD card (if fitted). It is necessary to physically re-mount the SD card.
IMHO these are significant problems.
Why doesnât battery power automatically kick-in to prevent this?

I switched to the G410 from Ring because I was sick of paying a mandatory subscription fee to access videos. My G410 is battery powered and has the supplied card in it which is mostly empty. The Aqara has not recorded anything since early June 26. The doorbell does work. Can anyone point to some reasons why this device doesnât seem to be working for me?

Just adding, I have enabled the correct settings, there is a Cloud log showing a list of recent events, but the Local log is âunavailableâ. That suggests to me that it is disconnected from the network. On following up on that, I see itâs connected to my router, and has recent activity (seen on router log).

My G410 is powered, has a SD card but I have enabled the recording writing to my NAS.
This is functional as expected. Not sure but I think this has something to do with using your G410 on battery power only

Thanks. Nah, donât think itâs that as the documentation explicitly says that itâs possible on battery, indeed, the card has recordings from the first few weeks after I installed it. Batteries have been replaced as well. Do Aqara monitor these forums?

See my earlier post about failure to record to SD card.
My G410 (external power source) failed to recognise the SD card after a power cut - stating that the card was not present. I unplugged the power supply, waited 30 seconds and plugged it back in. Recording to SD card resumed shortly thereafter. Maybe you need to remove all the batteries and reinsert them.
For other failures to record, try restarting the device from the app
