Dear Aqara User,
We sincerely apologize for the frustration and inconvenience you have experienced with the setup process. We understand how disappointing it is when a high-end device does not work as expected, especially after investing in the ecosystem.
Please note that while our setup guides cover the general process, individual results can vary depending on home network environments, hub placement, and iOS versions.
If you are getting stuck on the “Access Codes” screen or seeing a “No Response” status, we need to troubleshoot the connection between the lock, your Hubs, and HomeKit.
Troubleshooting Your Connection
To help us pinpoint the exact cause of the failure, could you please provide the following details?
- iPhone Details: What is your specific iPhone model and current iOS version?
- Apple Home Hub: Do you own a Thread-enabled Apple Home Hub (e.g., HomePod mini or Apple TV 4K)? Is it placed within 5 meters of the door lock?
- Note: The “spinning” issue on the Access Codes screen is usually caused by an unstable network connection between the lock and the Apple Hub.
- “No Response” Diagnosis: This status usually occurs in three scenarios:
- There is no Thread-enabled Apple Home Hub in your home.
- The Apple Home Hub is too far from the U400 lock and no nearby Thread-enabled hub to build the Thread network connection.
- Direct Phone Connection: If you have an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, you may be able to bind the U400 directly without a hub. However, without a dedicated Thread Hub nearby (within 5m and free of obstructions), the lock will quickly drop offline and show “No Response” whenever your phone moves away.
Proposed Solution (Using your Hub M3)
Since you own the Hub M3, I highly recommend resetting the setup and trying this specific order to ensure stability. This method uses the M3 to bridge the connection when the Apple home hub is placed too far:
- Add the U400 lock to the Aqara Home app via Bluetooth first.
- Bind the lock to your Hub M3 to complete Matter integration within Aqara Home.
- Share the U400 from Aqara Home to Apple Home as a Matter accessory.
Important:
- The Hub M3 is required to be placed near the U400 lock.
- Ensure your Hub M3 and your Apple Home Hub are connected to the same Wi-Fi network to achieve Apple Home control.
Please refer to the guide below. It details how to use your Aqara Hub (placed closer to the lock) to establish a stable Thread connection: Aquara U400 not binding to M100
We are committed to getting this working for you. Please let us know the details requested above, and we will guide you through the next steps.
