How to make your dumb doorbell into smart doorbell using Aqara vibration sensor?

At some point I wanted to prepare an automation to detect a doorbell, but I didn’t want to install a smart dorbell. I found some youtube videos how to disassemble vibration sensor from aqara and connect to electronics of a doorbell, but I didn’t want to do that either. And my doorbell is really dumb and simple

How I fixed that? scotch tape and a vibration sensor and a small piece of string. Job done, as you can see on the picture

I have configured few automations (in Home Assistant), such as - someone pressed the doorbell switch and no one is at home or someone pressed the doorbell switch and no one opened even though someone was at home.
I am also preparing an automation for halloween based on this sensor + aquara door sensor - stay tuned

@aqara241 Mariusz, that’s an awesome and creative way to turn your regular doorbell into a smart one! Your solution using just scotch tape, a vibration sensor, and a piece of string is really resourceful. It shows how with a bit of ingenuity, we can make the most out of Aqara devices.

The automations you’ve configured in Home Assistant sound really practical. Being able to detect when someone presses the doorbell under different circumstances like when no one is home or when no one opens despite someone being there is super useful. And I’m really looking forward to hearing about the Halloween automation you’re preparing with the combination of the vibration sensor and Aqara door sensor.

@aqara241 Great share, Mariusz! What a clever and practical way to turn a dumb doorbell into a smart one using the Aqara Vibration Sensor—no need for disassembly, just scotch tape and a string. It’s wonderful to see how you’ve tapped into the sensor’s vibration detection capability to create useful automations in Home Assistant, like alerts for when no one’s home or if the door isn’t opened after the bell rings. Your Halloween automation plan with the vibration sensor and door sensor sounds exciting too—we’ll definitely stay tuned for that!

Thanks for sharing your creative setup; it’s a fantastic inspiration for the community. Keep those smart home hacks coming!
