Hello Aqara,
I didn’t find a dedicated thread for user ideas, so I’d like to start one with some suggestions for the application:
Here are a few examples of what I’m missing:
- Automation Enhancements:
- Run Once a Day Option: It would be very useful to have an option within automation settings to specify that an automation should only run a maximum of once per day.
- Weather and Location Services:
- Expanded City Selection: For weather reports and location-based automations, please consider adding a wider selection of cities, ideally including all those with a population greater than 5,000 inhabitants. Alternatively, the ability to connect to an external weather service would be fantastic.
- Light Sensor P2 - Conditional Logic:
- I’m encountering an issue with the Light Sensor P2 where I cannot seem to combine conditions for both presence detection and light sensitivity in a single automation. For example, I want a light to turn on only if the room is occupied and the ambient light level is low. Currently, it seems only one of these conditions can be active at a time.
Please feel free to share your own ideas below!
Best regards,
Jaroslav

Hello there! It sounds like you might be experiencing an issue with your automation triggering more than once when you only want it to execute once per day. Could you share any specific examples or use cases to help us better understand your needs? This will allow us to provide more tailored advice. Looking forward to hearing from you!
Adaptive lighting in the aqara application
In my passive house, which has large south-facing windows, I utilize sunlight to heat the house during colder months and have external blinds to prevent overheating in warmer months. I’ve set up automations for this:
- Morning Heating: If the sun is shining brightly (high lux) and the temperature is below 22°C, the blinds open to allow solar heat gain. However, this condition might be met multiple times throughout the morning, causing the blinds to repeatedly open. I only need them to open once under these conditions each day.
- Overheating Prevention: Similarly, if the room becomes hot and the sun is shining intensely, the blinds close to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature. Again, this might trigger multiple times when the initial closure is sufficient for the day.
Therefore, I would greatly benefit from an option in the automation settings to have an automation run only once per day (or even per week, etc.). This “run once” functionality would be useful for various scenarios, such as the blind control described above, as well as for other tasks like feeding pets or watering the garden, where repeated actions within a short timeframe are unnecessary.
hi there, could you send me your specific automation configurations, including some screenshots?
