The aqara hub m300 IR feature is amazing. However the remote controls in the app lack customization in layouts and limits programing different buttons, especially limiting for less common devices. Please improve this feature. Curious if anyone has had better success or found solutions that work

Yes I believe I am. I just hoped for more customization in the UI, design, layout etc.
Is there a feature to run automations or scenes for a custom IR remote to act as a trigger? For example I have an old remote and Id like to program the IR so that when I press a button aqara home runs an automation, for example turns on my exterior lights, closes my smart blinds, starts my lawn sprinklers and locks the doors.

Unfortunately, there is no direct command to use the IR remote control from the WHEN section of automation 2.0. You can use your phone as a remote control by creating an appropriate scene for this. The second option of the remote control, the Aqara wireless button (three combinations), also requires a previous scene.
