@KolloApple Thanks for sharing your interest in the new Aqara Video Doorbell G400! It’s always exciting to see new devices making their debut, especially one with such promising features.

Based on your YouTube transcript and currently available reference details, here’s what we know about the Aqara G400 so far:

  • Connectivity: The G400 is Aqara’s first doorbell to support both Wi-Fi and PoE (Power over Ethernet), offering more flexibility for different installation requirements and ensuring stable 24/7 local recording.
  • Video Quality: It delivers 2K resolution for clear and crisp video, combined with a 165-degree head-to-toe vertical view—making it great for capturing visitors from packages on the ground to tall guests.
  • Weatherproofing: The G400 boasts an IP65 all-weather design, so it should stand up well to rain, dust, and other challenging outdoor conditions.
  • On-Device AI: AI person detection happens on the device itself, which means faster alerts and improved privacy.
  • Privacy & Smart Home Integration: It supports HomeKit Secure Video, ensuring that your video footage remains private and secure. Plus, it offers broad compatibility with other major smart home ecosystems.
  • Local Storage: The PoE capability and local 24/7 recording suggest reliable, always-on operation (though the exact storage details are yet to be confirmed).

While these highlights make the G400 look like a fantastic addition to the Aqara lineup, please note that some finer details—such as battery backup, chime options, and exact app features—haven’t been fully published yet. If anyone in the community has hands-on experience or additional specs, please jump in and share!

Let’s keep the discussion going—if you spot more details or have specific questions about setup or integrations, feel free to ask. The G400 is shaping up to be a game-changer for smart video doorbells!

I have the G4, then was able to do the beta test for the G410, now they have the 400 which has a few features i want… wondering if Aqara is willing to do any trade up option for us long time owners.

Been putting off buying a doorbell until I see what’s released at the end of the year. Glad this has WiFi as well since running ethernet out of the front door isn’t really an option for me. Just hope there’s decent Home Assistant integration outside of Homekit.
