Not able to Reset FP300

I tried FP300 using the aqara home app and the Hub M2 I bought to configure it as Zigbee.

After I stumbled on the informative thread here I wanted to reset it and configure it through HomeAssistant. However, I’m now unable to reset it and configure it to use Zigbee anymore.

When I hold the button for 5 seconds, blue light blinks but the device is not discovered by the aqara home app anymore.

When I tried clicking the button 10 times continuously to factory reset, it blinks blue light the same way as above and still not discovered in the app as an accessory

I repeated both of the above after power cycling i.e. removing the battery and putting it back followed by reset and repeated the power cycle to try factory reset. Each time I see the same blue light blinking, but the device remains undiscoverable in aqara home as well as HomeAssistant.

I had raised a ticket with the Aqara team, however, they are slow to respond and so far have not been of any help.

Any pointers on what I can try to fully reset the device and configure it to use Zigbee so that I can use it directly using HomeAssistant?

Yeah quiet simple. Had that issue as well! You need to wait 24h! Sounds crazy but afterwards you can start without resetting again the installation process

How did you know it got fixed in 24 hrs? Did it get detected automatically without any action from you?

Did you first remove it from the Aqara home app completely to unpair it from the hub?

Yes. That was my first step. Without which it was not allowing to reset.

Do you have an option in the M2 to prevent accidental deletion? If so is it toggled on? If you have that setting turn that off and try to reset/pair again to m200.

I have turned it off now. But I had removed the device from the app earlier, and this is meant to protect removal only, isn’t it? Also, my issue is that I’m unable to make the device go into pairing mode. Each time I had tried reset, it always blinks blue few times and then nothing. Have found the same happens when I click 10 times.

Based on @manuel_tolksdorf message above, I was waiting to see if 24hr resolves the issue so thinking I should only try to reset tomorrow and see if that helped.

It’s supposed to be to prevent deletion but I had a sensor I could not get in for the life of me and turning that off helped. It could’ve been a bug on my M3 but worth a shot if the 24 hour wait doesn’t work out

Thanks for sharing. will check and update here soon.

My goal is to use it from HomeAssistant anyway and I was not aware that Zigbee mode can work fully without the hub, otherwise I would not have bought M2 in the first place.

Hopefully you can get it in. While you get more options via zigbee it works well via matter. Please keep us posted.

I was able to add it back to aqara home after keeping it idle for 24hrs and disabling the accidental protection.

Thanks @manuel_tolksdorf for the tip. And @USBen for chiming in, however, I’m not able to confirm what fixed it. So my recommendation would be to do both ATM.

Next challenge is to add this to homeassistant!!

@USBen I followed the same steps I followed earlier with the exception of “disabling accidental deletion” and this time I was able to add it to HA with the quirks installed. So, I believe your tip to disable accidental deletion certainly helps, Thanks.

@manuel_tolksdorf while I cannot do more testing on this, based on the tests I have done so far it seems the 24hr tip you shared is required when we have “accidental protection” turned on. Please update the thread if you have any further insights into this. Thanks.
