Raumthermostat W 100/room thermostat W100

Hallo .

Hello.

I’m thinking about buying the W100 room thermostat. My question is, what commands have you assigned to the buttons? Maybe your ideas will be the deciding factor for me! mm

Hi!
At the moment I only use it as a thermometer. It has no other use until they fix the W600. If you are into Home Assistant it might be of some (hopefully) better use when the next version of zigbee2mqtt is released in a few days.

Hallo.

Hello, first of all I want to emphasize that this is not a thermostat but an advanced thermometer. The buttons can only be used in two modes.

  1. Binding to THERMOSTAT W500, W600, E1, (controlling the temperature of thermostats)
  2. This is the mode of a regular wireless switch with three buttons (press, double press, long press).

ATTENTION! The buttons can only work in one of two modes

I’m writing this so that there is no disappointment later.

I think there was a post about those button automations. As far as I know, most of us use it to control the lights  Each button can be programmed as single click, double click and long press and you can:

  • control the light brightness
  • turn the lights on/off
  • activate a scene for movie lighting setup, or just dim the lights so it makes a relaxing atmosphere
  • if you have the M3 hub, the button action can be synched with Apple Home or other Matter ecosystem (as “signal sync”), so you can use the button to play music on HomePods (it’s possible via HomeKit scenes)

Having the W100 on a stand (for example on the coffee table or near the bed) makes it really handy. You don’t have to stand up or use the phone to change the lights.

I like that you use it as a controller instead of a thermostat . No matter how I have had this thing connected to my (according to a recent “please send some free products to me, I am soo worthy” review) “fantastic” radiator w600 thermostats, it hasn’t done what it is supposed to do. Updates gives us about 2 - 5 days of working thermostats and then fails again. The only time I actually had some use of it was when connected to zigbee2mqtt I HA. That is why I am waiting for the new version to be released in public in a few days. A blueprint in Home Assistant gave me the opportunity to program the W100 to be actually useful. Right now the actual promised functions of the W100 in daily use doesn’t exist. No matter what the one positive “reviewer” in here thinks. We do not need to give him screenshots of our temperature or what protocol we are using. We just need Aqara to acknowledge that they have released a product or two that are still not ready for public use and that we have paid d a lot of money to test it for them. That is normally not how it works for test users. They are normally paid for their work. I don’t know what you guys think but after months of pulling our remaining hair out, I really think Aqara should reach out to us all to arrange something. Right now we all have products that we cannot return to where we bought them because we only have 14 days to do so in the EU. I don’t know about you outside the EU. Aqara can’t make a decent working firmware, so we are stuck with a non functional setup that we all have paid for because of false promises from Aqara.

The failing thermostat is because the device by default only reports the temperature change if it’s a change above a threshold. So if you have somewhat constant temperature then it will stop reporting and it’s practically as if it was offline.

You can change this by changing the sampling setting in the Aqara app to custom, there you can set it to report in a constant interval (I have set 1 min, most of the people on the forum set it to 10 min).

I actually use it as a sensor for my E1 thermostat head so the heating is more balanced. I open the windows a lot, so the W100 thermostat being about 1.5m from the window helps with maintaining a more comfortable temperature

Szenen - Gute Nacht:

  • Lichter aus
  • Rollos zu
  • Steckdosen aus
  • Heizungen aus
  • Tür zuschließen
  • Nacht-Alarm aktivieren

Szenen - Guten Morgen:

  • Rollos auf
  • Heizungen an
  • Nacht-Alarm deaktivieren
