I can confirm overheating with Thread firmware 1.0.0.6. Here are some plots showing the current and target temperature of my thermostats since yesterday morning:
As you can see, there is quite some overshoot when activating heating mode and also some oscillations during the night, when I lowered the target temperature to 18°C (which is never reached). During the day temperature seems to settle at 22.5°C, although the target is set to 21°C.
I would expect the thermostats not to heat up the room by several degrees if the current temperature is already above the target. In this case the valve should be opened just enough to reach equilibrium.
Temperature control should be independent of radio protocol. In theory both firmwares could even use one and the same source code for the control algorithm.
The Matter over Thread support was actually one of the main reasons for me to choose the W600 thermostats.
I dont have the possibility for Zigbee since I have no Zigbee controller. I bought these thermostats because of the thread support.
Now, my device stopped sending temperature updates. It is still reachable, but no new temperatures are send…
And since I am not home, I am afraid it is still heating but I just cannot see it anymore.
How do I get the new firmware? I have asked for it twice using a private message to the mentioned guy, but unfortunately still nothing. Nothing gets pushed to me. I bought a w100 and two w600 to replace my annoying Tado X setup which f***s up everything in Home Assistant with unnecessary log in and log out problems in hope to get that fantastic new product that according to aqara was able to do a fantastic job. Nearly a month later nothing has been fixed. I experience all the same problems as anybody else in these forums. I have tried every solution mentioned, tried Matter and returned to Zigbee againg without any luck. Yesterday I turned them off in Home Assistant, but the Aqara app said they were heating to 24°c ?? My setting and automation is set to 22.5°c and now they were off as set in HA. How is this possible? Maybe we would all be much happier if Aqara just made all possible sensors and whatever they are called accessible ind both Zigbee, Matter and HomeKit mode so we all were able to program them with better results in HA or Apple Home as an example. There are so many good solutions in here and in the developer forum that should be implemented asap to make this product useful. Enough rant from me now. Happy New Year to you all from Denmark.
I have the same problem. I do not even now, what firmware version i have. I once switched from zigbee to thread and back to zigbee, hoping, that i then get the new firmware. but as I cant see what firmware version i have, i cant say whether that changed anything.
so, is there a way to get a new firmware just using the aqara home app and bluetooth – without any aqara hub?
