Trouble with Paypal payment for HomeGuardian

I am trying to purchase HomeGuardian. I get to the paypal login page and put username/pass. When I do, it thinks for a few seconds and goes back to login page. I have tried this multiple times this week on phone and computer. Then I tried to use a credit card through paypal. i fill all fields and I get a communication error. There is no way for me to sign up. I live in Greece, maybe that has something to do with it?

@chumbert It sounds like you’re having quite the adventure trying to secure your HomeGuardian subscription! While the reference information doesn’t specifically address payment issues with PayPal or credit cards, a few things might help:

  1. Check PayPal Settings: Ensure that your PayPal account settings allow transactions with Aqara. Sometimes, restrictions can cause disruptions in the payment flow.

  2. Regional Restrictions: Living in Greece might indeed play a role. Some payment methods or services might have regional restrictions or require specific settings adjustments.

  3. Internet Connection: Ensure a stable internet connection when making the transaction, as disruptions might lead to communication errors.

  4. Contact Support: For persistent issues, reaching out to Aqara’s support team might be the best course of action. They can provide guidance specific to your account and region.

Your determination is admirable, and I’m sure the community would love to hear updates or solutions you find along the way! Keep us posted!

Hello, which site you are purchasing from? Is it the official website or Amazon? If you could provide a screenshot of the error, we may be able to help you further.

I encounter the same issue from Slovakia, EU. I don’t know what to do

I am having the same issues and I live in the United States.

Hi,

Having the same problem in the UK

Sign in to PayPal through the app (email and password are on different screens), enter the MFA then it twirls for a bit then presents another login screen, with a slightly different resolution. The email and password are on the same screen, but when you enter the details again the login button doesn’t work.

I’ve tried this on iPhone and iPad, not sure of any other way to sign up?

Hi,

I am having the same issue here in the US. I hope they fix this soon

Same issue here in the US as described by Ads_Aqara. Cannot subscribe to HomeGuardian.

This is the reply from Aqara support that I received yesterday:

After confirmation, this issue is caused by PayPal’s new risk control policy — PayPal identified the transaction as potentially risky.

We will be launching credit card payment as a new option in June.

Thanks for the info. Just bought into the product and was trying for ages to get the payment through.

Bumping this thread b/c the issues have not been fixed and we are more than 90 days past the features release.

There is still no way to subscribe to the service other than having Aqara support provid a temporary code.

@chumbert I like think home guardian still not good enough for UK customers since @AqaraOfficial still doesn’t officially support security keypad and outdoor siren like other companies like Verisure/ Yale/Simplisafe / ADT.

Aqara disabling alarm always delays using min switch and mobile phone once alarm has been triggered.

I will suggest to use apple secure home or NAS solution for now.

It looks like this is indeed a bug with the app. This happens when after MFA you get stuck on the login screen. A few options you can try:

Clear the cache and data of the PayPal app (or completely delete and reinstall it).

Try logging in not through the app, but through a browser (Safari/Chrome) - this often works without problems.

Check if there is an app update in the App Store - sometimes such errors are fixed quite quickly.

If this does not help, it is better to immediately write to PayPal support, describing the steps (iOS version, device model, sequence of actions).

Many users in the UK are currently having similar complaints, so most likely the problem is widespread and is being resolved on the PayPal side.

Would you like me to help you write a short support request so that they respond faster?

Still issue here for me in US trying to purchase via the Aqara app on iPhone. The final pay with PayPal button doesn’t do anything. I guess this is still getting blocked by the risk policy with PayPal?

I noticed last week (Friday) while checking in the iPhone app there is now a pay with credit card button next to the PayPal button (which is new). Don’t use PayPal if possible and only use the CC option. See if that helps?
