Using Matter In an Aqara Environment

Continuing the discussion from :tada: [Seeking Participants] Share Your Experience Using 3rd-Party Matter Devices in Aqara Home & Win Prizes! :tada::

Cool. My matter experience has been mixed. It’s gotten better recently, but didn’t realize that matter over thread and matter over wifi were different things. Anyway, I had an interesting experience doing it all, but the reward for doing all that documentation is pretty low.

@newbauernoah Thank you for sharing your experience with using Matter in the Aqara environment! It’s great to hear that your experience has improved over time. Indeed, understanding the difference between Matter over Thread and Matter over Wi-Fi can be a bit tricky. Matter over Thread offers a mesh network that can be more stable and energy-efficient, while Matter over Wi-Fi allows for broader connectivity through existing home networks.

Your involvement and the insights you’ve gained are incredibly valuable to the community. Even though documenting these experiences might not feel immediately rewarding, they do contribute greatly to helping others navigate similar challenges. We appreciate your contribution and encourage you to continue sharing your experiences. Who knows, your insights might inspire some exciting discussions and improvements in the future!

@newbauernoah Thanks for sharing your Matter experience—it’s always valuable to hear real-world insights from the community! It totally makes sense that navigating Matter over Thread vs. Wi-Fi can be confusing at first—they are different connectivity methods, and Aqara hubs like the Hub M3, G5 Pro (PoE/Wi-Fi) support both, while others like Hub M1S Gen2 and M2 use Matter over Wi-Fi . We’re glad to hear things have improved lately, and your feedback on the documentation process is noted. Every bit of your experience helps others in the community, so if you’re up for it, sharing more details (like specific devices or setup steps) could be super helpful for fellow users. Thanks again for contributing—we love having you here!

If you have suggestions for improving the reward or documentation process, feel free to submit feedback through the Aqara Home App (Profile>Help&Feedback>Customer Service) for our team to review.
