W100 Climate Sensor Suggestions?

Currently using the W100 for just a temperature and humidity sensor. What is everyone else using the extra features for?

It’s placed on a wall near my couch. It’s used as the temperature sensor for my E1 thermostat because I want to regulate the temperature around the couch. And it’s about 2m away from the radiator so it’s a smooth spot for measuring the room temp.

I use the buttons for automations like increase the LED strip brightness, decrease it, turn the LED strip or the lights on/off and when I hold the middle button - it activates a scene for movie lighting (disable ambient LEDs and lights in the whole room and in the corridor).

And I didn’t set the secondary sensor, because I actually like to see what’s the temperature outside.

How does it monitor outside temperature?

It doesn’t, it gets the temperature from the internet based on the location of your home (you can edit the location in the home settings in Aqara app)

If no temperature sensor is connected, it displays temperature values from an online weather station. However, I put a temperature sensor in a waterproof box and connected it to the W100. The batteries discharge faster in cold weather, but it works well otherwise.

The temperature reading from the sensor is the same as that from my old thermometer. I bought the waterproof box on eBay for €3.

I also use the W100 for my LED strips and an LED lamp. I even made a video of it for the CES competition:

Thank you for the info. Do you mind telling me how you set the trigger for the outdoor temp? The sensor is a bit confusing at first… since it lists “wireless switch 1,2,and 3… in separate bubbles. If I want to have it show outdoor temp on the “switch 1, how do I do that?

Are you using the sensor in Zigbee or Thread mode?

And are you using the sensor in Aqara, Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, Home Assistant, or another system?

Do you want to use wireless switches 1 to 3 (buttons) to control your thermostat or to control other devices such as lamps?

This is how it works in Zigbee mode in the Aqara Home app:
