W600 thermostat: Collection of infos and open issues

Sounds good.
I had 1 E1 when they were new. But they never met my expectations, so i send them back. But i didnt checked the algorythm. I send them back because i didnt liked the display on the front.

So far i can say, the Sonoff TRVZB is the best i had. But only with my own controller.

I really really wish, Aqara would fix the controller inside the W600, because it could be the best TRV on the marked.

Haha it’s funny because all except one of my radiators controls are at the bottom, so the E1 with screen on the top is better for me. Lucky!

I like the looks and how they can be read from top when the display is on the top of the device like at the w600.

I don’t unterstand, why the w600 is so bad, when the e1 seems to work way better.

Changing the W600 regulation algorithm to the PID algorithm, which is a much more complex algorithm, it provides for battery saving and smooth regulation of the room temperature (E1 works on the On/Off valve). This is the main problem of all current issues with the W600.

if implemented correctly…

are you an aqara employee?

The algorithm is still really bad. There need to be much better improvements. Think about a PI controller and external temp input! This is mandatory.

I made good experiences with Kp = 35 and KI = 1.2
If this is not fixed, you wont get good sales on them.

No, I’m not an employee. Information about the power supply from the manufacturer. Since testing the W600, I have only had one battery replacement, when they found an error in frequent polling of the external W100 sensor that was “eating” the power supply battery (it was fixed). Since September 2025, I have not changed the power supply batteries, currently on 3.0 volt batteries (I took out separate contacts from the batteries for measurements).
I have the E1 battery replacement every two months.

Still on original batteries since October, and the app shows 85% (older firmware showed 80%).

Regarding PID control, Aqara should implement restricted access for changing internal PID parameters such as Kp, Ti, Td, and any other implementation-specific coefficients. Access to these settings should be limited to advanced users or service technicians via authenticated methods (for example, a secured developer mode, or an authenticated API). Additionally, Aqara should provide: clear documentation of each parameter and its effect; preset tuning profiles for common use cases; a safe default and a one‑click rollback to factory PID values; logging of parameter changes for diagnostics; and safeguards that prevent values that could destabilize the controller or damage valve.

Additionally, the controller behaves very unstably and unpredictably. The smart schedule works irregularly (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t). The latest firmware only made the temperature tend toward the setpoint; previously the device could lock in a closed position even more than 2°C below the setpoint.

Aqara W600 thermostat doesn’t want to enter pairing mode.

I’ve tried everything—hard reset, changing batteries,reinstall.

Any help?

Please check your original thread.

I will complement you. I believe that the Aqara user can be given the choice of PID or On/Off mode. In On/Off mode (TVR threshold activation), it is simply necessary to warn the user that the battery life will decrease.

I have a Problem with 2 Radiators in 1 Room with 1 W100 and on each Radiator one W600. One Radiator heats more than other or one Radiator is Cold. I have create a Group of Thermostates and bind it with the W100. Same Result one is Cold and one Heat up. How can I synchronze these 2 W600? And Ideas?

No,the device was set in zigbee mode and was working.
Few days after last update it stop to respond.
I have deleted from the app and wanted to reinstall.
Now i am trying to add to the app,but it is impossible.
Device is stuck and wont enter pairing mode.

Try disabling the device removal protection feature in the gateway and then re-adding the W600.
Also reload the gateway.

Thank you very much!
This solved the problem!

Does someone know something about the external sensor input expose with z2m? Will it ever be includet?

that would be really really nice to have.

I did a small research on a w600.
The small dc motor looks pretty cheap.
Its only a 2 wire motor, so i guess the W600 is only reaching its positions with time and current calculations.

I like the electrical and mechanical concept of the W600, but its software is still very bad.

In comparison, here is a Sonoff TRVZB which costs the half amount of the aqara.

It has at least a 4-wire dc motor. So it could be a stepper motor or a DC motor with rotary encoder. Its hardware is looking more robust and it seems like it really can “measure” the valve position, but it doesnt.

Maybe someone wanna reverse engineer the W600 and make an acutall good software? :joy:

Someone needs to reverse‑engineer it (since Aqara uses a custom Zigbee cluster) and implement proper support in z2m.
This would have to come either from the community or from the Aqara maintainers themselves.
Personally, I don’t get the impression that Aqara cares about contributing outside of the Aqara Home app, and I doubt they will support us here.
For comparison, other vendors do actively contribute to z2m and implement new features directly there.
