What is your WORST aqara device?

For me every single aqara HUB’s are useless. I need atleast one but i use all my automation in Home Assistant because aqara implementation for automation are so basic that there is no point to do them in separate hub if i use HA anyway

I hate ceiling light t1m. Why? I need aqara hub to fully use it and i cant use dynamic light without aqara hub.

Not sure I’d agree with the hubs being useless, but do agree they have no use for Home Assistant users (like myself).

I’m sure the hubs are useful to non Home Assistant users.

They are too limited, even new automation 2.0 i cant use aqara lock current state as condition (if open/if closed)

I have no experience of Aqara automations, and don’t see a need to try them. For me, Home Assistant (and occasionally HomeKit) will run all automations that I need.

Well, I don’t understand why to compare apples with pears?!?

Aqara and it’s hubs and HA and it’s zigbee / matter sticks/ dongles/ hubs

It’s like to compare volkswagen with skoda

So every product has it efforts

There is nothing aqara hub can do that HA cant if aqara didnt make restrictions. All restrictions that aqara makes are pure money ask so you need to buy aqara hub.

For me, i wanted to make aqara mini switch automation (local) to open/close u200 lock but i need to do it thru home assistant because aqara restricted u200 to use his automation as condition. Why? No idea! So i cant use only aqara hub.

I need to own aqara hub because aqara restricted ceiling light dynamic lights for third party ecosystems. Why? No idea! So i cant use only Home Assistant.

Well I understand your point somehow - but why do you think that Aqara should open everything? So I think that Aqara wants to run their devices as much stabile and safe as possible!

A lock is definitely a safety thing what should run as safe and secure as possible!
If a user will use it wrong ( because all is open) who will be responsible for it?
I think the company want find a good way for all users and get less complaints as possible!
And of course Aqara wants to generate profit ( like every company ) and HA is an open source project what is very tempting through its further possibilities

There is no safety issue to ask automation for lock current status (is it locked or open)

And why should aqara make it open… well they declared that:

Aqara is a member of the Works with Home Assistant partner program for their Matter products. Aqara is committed to making sure their products are up-to-date and ready to use in Home Assistant.”

So if the same thing i ask is open to make in HA, why to restrict it in their own app?

As long as I can replace hub with AppleTV, none of these hubs is allowed to get in my home

But you cant… yes you can if u are using only matter devices… but this narrows down your devices

The matter standards alliance means you can go write complaints threads on every matter device manufacturer forum. The future is good.

You can control the T1M in home assistant, If you connect the hub to Home Assistant though Matter then you can expose scenes and actions through matter and then directly control from home assistant.

I do this all the time. create your scenes and RGB animations, give them a name and then export though matter!! easy!!

Yes… i NEED aqara hub for this. But why? Why not make it open to use without hub. It’s simple zigbee lamp.

My understanding is that the T1M NeoPixel lamp for ZigBee does not have standard endpoints. This is my all neopixel type lights are either proprietary or use wled.

When i bought the lamp, i needed to buy M2 hub… now when i bought U200, i needed to buy newer hub… just to sell me a hub

Over what lamp and hub connects? Zigbee?

For me, so far, is the doorbell G410. It is not seamless and takes so much time to get updated while I need to talk to the person at the door

For me it has to be the P2 Matter window/door sensor, as cannot upgrade the firmware past 1.0.0 (even though one exists) and that it’s forever need to be reset and added again as it loses connection to the M3 Hub. Plus if I had managed to upgrade the P2 according to the forums it would have turned it j to ewaste, don’t by them.

Vibration sensors. They go off daily despite being on lowest sensitivity and on an solid surface. All other Aqara products have been great for me… (perhaps doorbell G410 not so much due to the direct sun issue, but otherwise great).

Tough question. I’d have to say its either the presence sensor FP2 - which just doesn’t seem to work or the Aqara technical support that simply doesn’t work. Hopefully they will move to a full AI model and take out the human component as it must be expensive and doesn’t know how to do basic troubleshooting from my experience.
