Window/Door Sensor Outside?

Has anyone used the window/door sensor outside? What was your experience with it? Did you have any type of weatherproofing?

Hi. I have a temperature sensor set up outside that’s housed in a small box, and it works great.

The P100 Multi-State Sensor is also a window/door sensor, and I’ve read here from others that you can get silicone covers for it that are supposed to work outdoors.

Unfortunately, I can’t find that post right now, but I did find another post here that also addresses the topic:

I was wondering if anyone has found a box that the aqara P100 will fit in, so it can be used outside? Thanks

I got a 3D printed weather proof cover/mount off of Etsy. Works great. However, now I need to change the batteries and don’t want to unscrew it.

I 3d printed a case and have mounted one outside for some time with no issues.

I also have two sensors outside for years - one is in a dry place and the other one is covered by a 3d printed housing - it just works

I have been using an Aqara Door and Window Sensor in my outdoor mailbox for a couple of years now. The mailbox has a two-part lid: the sensor is attached to the inside of the inner lid, with the magnet attached to the inside of the outer lid.

I previously used an Aqara Vibration Sensor in the mailbox as well, and I still use a Vibration Sensor outdoors on my terrace. I also have an Aqara Temperature Sensor on the terrace.

All of these sensors have worked reliably year-round for several years. During the winter, temperatures here can drop as low as -25 °C. Despite the cold and possible exposure to moisture, I have had no issues with their operation.

They are outdoors and exposed to normal outdoor conditions, but rain and snow do not fall directly on the sensors.

Based on my experience, Aqara sensors can work surprisingly well outdoors, even though they are not officially designed for outdoor use.
