WWDC 26 just dropped, and it brought some massive news for smart home enthusiasts! With the deep integration of Apple Intelligence, we are about to see a fundamental shift in how we interact with our homes—moving from configuring complex rules to simply expressing our intentions.
We’ve put together a quick video breaking down exactly what these updates mean for your smart home experience.
Key Highlights
Smart Camera Timelines: Apple Intelligence now recognizes events and stitches clips from multiple cameras into one seamless timeline. See exactly what happened at a glance.
Clutter-Free Notifications: No more endless alert streams. Apple Home now consolidates multiple notifications into a single, easy-to-read summary.
4K HomeKit Support: Crystal-clear recordings that also give Apple Intelligence richer visual data for highly accurate event recognition.
Natural Language Shortcuts: Skip the complex rules! Just speak your intention (e.g., “Activate my Arrive Home scene when I get back”), and AI builds the automation for you.
Aqara & Apple: Better Together
To bring these next-generation experiences to life, Aqara already offers more than 340 products across over 15 categories with native Apple Home support. Aqara and Apple remain deeply committed to working together, ensuring your home always stays at the forefront of security, convenience, and technological innovation.

Yeah I already use ios27 beta and aqara app needs a bit of fix on that Liquid Glass, as now on the front page doesn’t turn on dark shade anymore it is still white since aqara doesn’t care to make dark mode for their app to match with the system.and what is so special about AI?many devices won’t get that features and those who will get I am sure the phones will heat up using AI
It’s actually a big deal and you can use either an offline local model or the cloud model.
Smart homes are still not widely used by people, partially because it’s just too hard to grasp how they work for most people.
You, me, or others on this forum may think “what’s so hard about it?” and we can have trouble understanding why others struggle with smart homes, but it’s because our perspective is different.
For many people, smart home is still a gadget or some niche hobby. And unfortunately, having an actually useful and convenient smart home (without millions of automations and scenes that may be confusing for your kids, guests or family members) is still a struggle.
Siri also has trouble understanding your intention without using specific language. Try saying “Siri, intercom to ” instead of “Siri, intercom to the ”. It will just broadcast you saying “” all HomePods and iPhones.
Apple also confirmed the AI is coming to the EU soon, maybe not for the time of the iOS 27 release, but it probably will come, as these new features are a huge game changer in terms of how people interact with their phones
Amin to that!!! but still what I am trying to say is that no matter the problem is that many ppl with iPhone 16 or 15 will not be able to use Apple Intelligence and if they have an smart home well Siri will be like now more what I am piss about is that there is no word for improvise Siri for HomePods devices witch should control smart homes by voice commands and you agree with me that is useless right now.one day I told Siri to open my curtain and it opens my curtain and blinds .you can’t interact with it like Alexa for example even that I do not like Alexa but I will love to have an Siri version like that.my opinion is that smart home should not relay on AI voice control.i have small automations that works perfectly without the need of home assistant like many use here on the forum or using AI for that matter.when Apple release something this days it is not the same what Apple did years ago when they innovate now they wait to see what others does and if ppl like then they steep forward and say hey we invented that
I’m extremely excited about this new functionality by Apple. There’s unsurprisingly a lot of attention to the AI features themselves, but w/rt smart home features, it really opens up more flexibility to operate anything in Apple Home as soon as we upgrade to the new release (this fall for GA).
However, it does require action on Aqara’s side to fully enable these new capabilities. For example:
camera firmware needs to updated for higher resolution (and presumably recertified with Apple) for HomeKit Secure Video.
the Aqara app needs to be updated to allow the new Siri (“Siri AI”) to know what devices and actions are available. This would allow us to use Siri AI for features that are in the Aqara app but not in Apple Home…like scenes, presets and fan control for the W200 thermostat, etc.
It has only been a week since Apple announced these at WWDC26 last week, but I hope Aqara will be looking to fully implementing all of these new capabilities in Golden Gate, and I hope to hear good news from Aqara on this by the time it is GA this fall (ideally sooner ).
Regarding iPhone 15/16 users (Edit: 15PM and 16Pro/PM only), the good news is that Siri Ai will be available to them, so the more capable smart home stuff will be there even if some of the other AI isn’t.
It is disappointing that Siri AI is not available for existing AppleTV and HomePod models, though. There’s an argument that Apple could have handed off these requests to a device capable of Siri AI, but what it comes down to is that we’ll have to invest in future home devices that support Siri AI.
Also good news is that the same framework (“App Intents”) that lets Siri AI know about things and actions in an app is the same framework that drives Shortcuts today. So, as developers adopt the updated App Intents for Siri AI, Shortcuts should get it, too!
Well from what I know only the pro models of iPhone 15/16 gets the new Siri and iPhone 17 all models but the basic models of iPhone 15/16 no from what I know.sure I do not say that Siri AI will be for those who use it I personally do not.i do have 2/3 shortcuts made to control some devices but other then that no.also think that this new AI for sure won’t be available on all languages or all features when they will release the oficial iOS 27.now lets talk about compatibility as what apple does is making excuses just to sell more new devices.i have an Samsung s22 for my work and have Samsung AI now explain me why an Samsung S22 have AI but not an iPhone 14 Pro or 15/16 basic ?or my Apple Watch Ultra first gen witch will not get watch OS27 update.its an shame what they did with the AI this year.ether way we each have our opinions regarding AI.
Dang, i was looking at some outdated information that said ultra 1 was supported when it because clear that series 9 was supported. This has been extremely confusing as well as a complete shocker.
Would be cool if the same sort of stitching together of camera activity could be done for presence sensing as well. That could reveal patterns or routes of movement useful for automations
The only thing I like from ios27 that this beta is way more done then ios26 still need some polish but HomeKit with 4k video and also they added the energy consumption on HomeKit (this is not yet fully integrate) are great for HomeKit users.
YES! AQARA, Please let us know what new Smart Home features (especially with cameras) will be functional at 27 launch, and when are any remaining ones expected to be working?
I use 2 other cameras besides my Aqara, only because for some reason I did not even know Aqara was so Apple compatible. Why they didn’t show up in all my searches for cameras that work with Apple Home, I do not know. I wish I started out with Aqara, exclusively when I began building my smart home.
I tarted with several (too many) Wyze devices, which have no plans to build Apple compatibility, they are holding out for Apple to be fully Matter and Thread compatible. I wish I could sell the dozen or so of their cameras I purchased those first couple of years. Their own system works quite well, but bing closed, it is totally separate from the others I have which are HomeKit ready. LogiTech does not even have a native app for the camera, is exclusively available on HomeKit, but suffers greatly when it comes to features and flexibility, is far more expensive that most alternatives and recently it refuses to join my HomeKit for unresolvable reasons.
So, I will be building up my Aqara collection to fully cover all areas around my home for full security, especially now that we will be getting more functionality and higher resolution on HomeKit.
Thank you!!
SUGGESTION, as soon as the Aqara cameras are able to fully take advantage of Apple’s new functionality, LAUNCH A GIANT PROMOTION, it will shut down the competition, when it comes to Apple Home users
