Automation 2.0, lesson 25, P100 sensor as a doorbell in England

Lesson 24__Automation 2.0, lesson 24, code lock from Aqara wireless button

Hello, today is a blitz topic.
Did you know that a regular P100 opening sensor can be turned into a smart doorbell in a matter of minutes? :bell:
This is especially important for owners of classic “knock-bells” that are so beloved in England. No need to change anything in the interior! Simply install the P100 on the inside of the door so that the sensor is triggered when the knocker is struck three times.
Figure A.

You simply attach the P100 from the back. Make the following settings for the P100 sensor.
Fig1,2,3,4

Special attention to the sensitivity setting of the P100 sensor. A correctly set “sensitivity” level will ensure reliable operation without “false” doorbell activations. This parameter is selected experimentally, depending on the type of door.
ATTENTION!! When selecting the “sensitivity” parameter for the first time, press the button on the sensor once. Press the “sensitivity” parameter again in the APP and continue the settings.

We are creating automation 2.0 that will turn on the sound on the Aqara gateway (which has a speaker) after a triple knock. Also, a time limit is set when you do not want to be disturbed.

Now we have a doorbell with a push notification to your phone.
This automation is very simple and effective.
This topic is completed.

What if they only knock once :grimacing:

Hello.
Purely theoretically, I never knock less than three times. Have you ever seen someone go up to a door and knock once?

Make a beautiful sign "knock three times"
And if you’re serious, I thought about it, at the moment I’m researching another sensor action and sensitivity of the trigger.
You can add any additional action to the WHEN condition.
I will try to test this option for a call.

In every joke there is only a part of the joke, and everything else is the truth😊

Nice retrofit! You don’t need any wires and you can keep the classic look of the door this way while making it smart

This is such an interesting idea!
But honestly, I’d still rather they just buy an Aqara wireless doorbell
I guess you’d also need to leave a note saying: “Make sure to knock 3 times, or the door won’t open.” :joy:

Hello, Carolina.
People who rent apartments cannot perform any installation work related to drilling or other changes to the structure of the house. And no one will forbid you from attaching a sensor to the door with adhesive tape.

The vibration function at an appropriate sensitivity can be used to recognize a single knock. The three-tap function requires three knock of relatively consistent strength to trigger. Perhaps this can be used to set different ringtones to distinguish between family members who know about this function and others. :grinning:

Hello, thanks for the addition. I wrote in the description that the P100 sensor is a source of imagination for automation. You confirmed this.
