Home Assistant Matter Hub

Has anybody used the Home-Assistant-Matter-Hub Add On and made Home Assistant entities available on any of the Aqara matter enabled devices?

It would be interesting to see what Home Assistant information can be displayed on devices like the Panel Hub S1 Plus or get the Touchscreen Dial V1 working in Home Assistant.

I have the U200 door lock. I could never get it to work using the matter hub in HA. I had to get the Aqara Hub to get it to talk to the lock.

I thought the U200 was a matter device anyway? I’m talking about creating new matter devices from HA entities using the plug-in and then adding those to Aqara to view on their displays.

Yes, I made mine available on the M100 hub, and it works really well.

Also added devices from the HA Matter hub (ie. Zigbee devices bridged to Matter)

U200 is a matter device and Home assistant is my Matter Hub (aka Thread Border Router; requires a respective antenna). I experimented with the Home-Assistant-Matter-Hub Add on, but do not own the Aqara Hub (M3).
The Home-Assistant-Matter-Hub Add on is actually a matter bridge, the name is misleading. Exposing HA entities to other Hubs (like Apple TV or similar) works like a charm.

In your original question, you asked for “make HA entities on any of the Aqara matter enabled devices”. You can’t make a device or its entities available on any other matter device - only on a Matter Hub like the Aqara M3.
Like the U200 is a matter device so can be integrated and controlled via such a hub - but the U200 cannot act on any other matter entity other than its own.

That’s good to know. I didn’t know that only certain aqara devices can accept 3rd party matter devices. I am assuming that via a compatible hub, e.g. M3, you can that access those devices on the Aqara panels like the S1 Plus?

Matter devices always require a Matter Hub and the manufacturer of the device or the hub do not matter (sic!). So you are right, the matter device is connected to the matter hub and panels like the S1 Plus can display and control the matter devices. The panel collects the information from the hub and sends commands to the devices via the controller.

Hello @james8

I am also trying to add the HA Matter Hub add-on to my Aqara m3 hub with no success. Have you been able to add it? If yes, what were the specific steps.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, it works for me.
There are several Matter Hub add-ons available.
Which one are you using?

Maybe these instructions will help:

I have the „t0bst4r/**home-assistant-matter-hub“ version installed. I will uninstall it and reinstall the version you are using. I will follow up once I am done!

Thanks!!

“t0bst4r/home-assistant-matter-hub” is the version I use.
HenriDo is using “Luligu/matterbridge-home-assistant-addon”.
So it should actually work with both.

What exactly did you want to do with it?

I have some lights and plugs in Home Assistant that I would like to see in the Aqara app. This way it‘s quick and easy to check the dev status and adapt as required.

I also like to try things and learn how to optimize my environment!
I now have the „Luligu“ version installed and configured. I have added the Matter Bridge to the Aqara app and added some devices. They are showing up with generic names and with lot‘s of unexpected entities. I think it‘s also showing all hidden entities?? Unfortunately the effects for my light are not being synced.

I have also two devices that I did not add (using a Label to choose which devices are added) and have not yet figured out what they are???

Will keep on investigating when I have more free time!!

As I said, I use the “t0bst4r” add-on. I also use a label to determine which devices are added, which is simply more convenient. However, with this add-on, labelling devices in Home Assistant has no effect. It only works if you label entities. Perhaps that was the problem.

If I understand you correctly, with the add-on from “Luligu”, all entities of a device are passed on via Matter when you label the device. Therefore, I would recommend only labelling the entities (not the entire device with all entities) that you actually want to pass on. Perhaps then the unlabeled “devices” will also disappear.

According to Matter, such devices are often only recognised as “Extended Colour Light”, which only allows one colour at a time. Which devices do you have in use? There may be a workaround.

I didn’t think to label the entities! I will give it try :+1:. The lights are Govee lights. In HA I can configure mostly what I need. The rest gets done in the Govee App.

Can I run both add-on simultaneously? Then I could test which is best for me.
