I think many users are confused by the settings in the W100 sensor. I want to make a short description of this setting.
To find this setting, you need to select it in the W100 splash screen.
We will leave the settings for later, after the explanation this question will disappear.
After selecting manual settings, the following selection window appears.
The “Samnling period” setting is responsible for the speed of data update on the physical, I emphasize again, on the physical monitor of the sensor. If you select the 500ms option, the sensor will update the information almost instantly (some users say that the sensor went crazy
)
Next comes the “Reporting mode” setting, which is responsible for sending (temperature change or after a certain period of time) information to the actuator (gateway) and, accordingly, to the Aqara home interface.
When the “Do not report” screen saver is selected, the W100 sensor updates data (sends to the gateway) at about the same time as a regular temperature sensor (about once an hour), you can see this in the Aqara home temperature graph.
Next is the “Threshold” screen saver, this screen saver allows the user to choose for themselves with what sensitivity (temperature change) the sensor will react to send information. If the temperature changes to the level you selected, then the information will go to the gateway. Please note, I saw that if the temperature changes instantly and then stops, there will be no transmission, the temperature needs to hold for a while (somewhere more than 10 seconds), I wrote this for those who want to blow on the W100 and see the result
.
Next is the “Period” screen saver, this setting allows the user to receive information to the gateway about the temperature at a certain (user-selected) time interval. For your understanding, the information will be transmitted regardless of temperature changes, on a constant basis.
Attention!!! If we select a time in this setting, the number of settings (presets) in the “Samnling period” tab automatically changes. Example “Period” -10s then “Samnling period” has a preset of only 10s.
The “Threshold” and “Period” settings, as you already understood, are a combined temperature sampling where both time and temperature change are involved. This is a combined data transfer.
My recommendations for conserving W100 batteries. During the period when I do not use the W100 ((heating period), I put the sensor into economy mode (reducing data transmission). I do this either in manual settings or by selecting the “Lov” mode.
So far, all the information on this section that I have researched. If anyone has any additions, I will be glad to hear them.
Thank you for your attention.
Aqara is the best product for a smart home.
