I was very excited to see these (UK) and jumped straight on them.
I was equally as excited to see they arrived super fast, but I’m now havinb connection issues.
The whole reason I bought these is to use with my existing Zigbee network on Home Assistant.
However, even with my HA network ready for a new device to join, the plug won’t connect to my HA network. If I set it up via the Matter protocol in the HA app, it connects via Thread rather than Zigbee which defeats the whole point of this.
Could someone suggest what I need to do?
Update (Solved):
The plug comes in Thread mode, so you need to first connect it directly to the Aqara mobile app via bluetooth, then switch the mode to thread. When it gets to the point asking you to select an Aqara hub to connect it to, you can exit the app and continue with your HA Zigbee network joining.
[Home Assistant Use Note] - Whilst you can connect to Home Assitant via Zigbee and you can technically control and read the entities, as it’s so new, Zigbee2MQTT registers this as an unsuported device.
Installed 5 of these today, some issues somehow manage to get 1 directly into HomeKit this gave me 2 x devices the plug and a RGB light switch so you can fully control the indicator light on the plug, the other 4 x I set up in Aqara App then noticed no Matter pairing code menu to set up in HomeKit so updated M3 hub connection then they appeared in HomeKit but with no light switch to control the light on the plug, deleted from Aqara App but even resetting them HomeKit failed to install them all now , noticed that now they flash pink and blue in setup rather then just blue initially but they will install back into Aqara OK, Am I doing stuff wrong I have been running Aqara for a long time and have about 60 devices running so fairly Ok with all the setups normally
Adding the New H2 Plug to Aqara App does not give me Adaptive light button in HomeKit the photo shows it only when added directly to HomeKit is the correct or a firmware issue?
Nice to have this but a suggestion. Yes it shows the power consumed in the Aqara app and also in the beta version of IOS 26.7 but it would help if it also showed the cost of such power. In a similar device from another manufacturer a user can put in what is paid per kWh of electricity and of course you then see the cost by day, month or year.
If I set the load to 2600W in the app, will the EU H2 smart plug sustain a constant load over a period of 8 hours?
In this case a 10A 2600W electric car charging done occationally.
Given the premium price, at first I thought the plug supported the typical native timers and schedules of other brands. Auto-off timers or local schedules that run in the plug instead of depending on the hub running automations are useful for added reliability. But SmartThings being the only platform where both Timer and Schedule was available didn’t add up.
So I thought, maybe they meant hub automations of the platform and it’s not a plug feature. Then the table wouldn’t make sense, all platforms support schedules via automations and many support timers (hey google/alexa, turn off the plug in 30 minutes) or auto-off timers automations like If plug on for 30 minutes, Then turn plug off.
Care is needed for some Smart Plugs as they will not always take a large load. I have “blown” a couple of such, from different manufacturers, because some devices plugged into them take too much power initially and it welds the contacts in the smart plug. It’s the surge of power a device may drain that is mostly the issue, no matter what the rating is. So far I have had no problem with my recently bought Aqaras nor with those from Philips Hue. I did have a problem with a Philips Hue smart plug when they first came out. It blew but they have since improved them and not had an issues for a long time.
For sure, automations usually work, but is less reliable given it depends on the hub, the network and the Matter connection. And for some platforms even the cloud!
It’s like the power limiter, it’s way better to have it built-in the plug (like Aqara advertises) than having an automation like If power greater than X Then turn off plug.
I trust more an auto-off so the plug turns off unconditionally after, let’s say, 1 hour, than an automation that could not run due to a connectivity or hub issue.

Currently, you won’t find a specific “Motor Load” label on the plug’s specifications because the 3680W/16A rating is based on standard resistive loads (like heaters and lighting). However, because motorized appliances draw a significant starting current, the maximum safe limit for motor loads on this plug is 1/2 HP (around 368W at 230V~). We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we will update the motor load specifications on our official website and in the manual at a later date.
